Having a structured design process is how I build delightful experiences that customers need while creating enduring business value. I’ve developed this design framework over 5 years of applying design thinking in my different roles.
User Experience and Video Games
Most video games will have the same foundational pillars: worldbuilding, story and character(s), hardware controls (and constraints), community building (whether in discussions or actually playing the game), game interface and gameplay and interaction. What does that mean for UX?
Reading The Engineering Leader:
I think it’s important to pick up the occasional book that might not seem like it aligns with your current interests or career objectives and wow, am I glad I picked up Cate Huston’s awesome The Engineering Leader: Strategies for Scaling Teams and Yourself.
Using AI in Design
I’m doing my best to keep up with the curve and learn to use AI as an effective partner for my design work. It’s a little bit scary to see what AI can spit out and how quickly, but continuing growth, practice, and curiosity for new trends and technologies is the best way to fortify your career.
Goals and Resolutions
I find that if you take the time to reflect and plan, it can be really impactful in how you tell the story of your previous year and drive the story of your next year. There’s so much potential.
Agile Methods for UX Design Course
I leveled up my skill set by taking the Agile Methods for UX class by Laura Klein. This enabled me to contribute beyond my normal role to aid in building workflows, project structure, and design methodology with Agile.
